Nanaimo is a city that has it all, from beautiful parks and beaches to charming shopping areas and restaurants. Here are some of the best things to do in Nanaimo this fall season.
Take a Stroll
A classic view in Nanaimo is the harbour and taking a stroll along the Harbourfront Walkway is a great way to see this, even if the breeze is a little chillier than in the summer.
Explore Parks
There are so many wonderful parks and walking trails in Nanaimo, and there’s no better way to admire the changing leaves than exploring some local areas, such as Neck Point Park, Piper’s Lagoon, and Bowen Park.
Take The Kids To A Playground
Even if the temperature is not as warm as in the summer, kids always want to play in a fun playground. Some of the best playgrounds in Nanaimo include the playgrounds in Maffeo Sutton Park and Beban Park.
Check Out The Museum
Whether you want to explore the Nanaimo Museum’s exhibits, attend a special museum presentation, or take a seasonal tour, such as the Haunted Nanaimo Lantern tours, this is a great way to learn about Nanaimo’s history.
Explore Petroglyphs
If you want to try something different this fall, take a walk around the Petroglyph Provincial Park in the south end of Nanaimo and admire the prehistoric rock carvings.
Discover A New Café
This is the season for warm drinks and tasty treats, so try discovering a new local bakery, café or coffee shop. Some local favourites include Drip Coffee, The Vault Café, and Hearthstone Artisan Bakery.
Get Active
This fall season, check out the City of Nanaimo’s Parks and Recreation Fall Activity Guide for arts, language, dance, sport, and recreation classes, including use of public pools and skating arenas. Please note, due to restrictions from Provincial Health Orders, some programs may be delayed or cancelled.
