How To Safely Move in 2021

How To Safely Move in 2021

It might seem more challenging to move this year, but here are a few tips on how to make moving to a new home easier and safer during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hire Professionals

While it might seem better to ask friends and family to help you move, it’s actually safer to follow social distancing recommendations and not involve your loved ones in your move. Hiring a professional moving company lets them assume responsibility for everyone’s safety and makes them incentivized to practice cautionary measures, such as wiping down equipment and surfaces, wearing face masks and maintaining at least 6 feet between themselves and you.

Wear Masks

Everyone involved in the move should be wearing proper face masks, whether you’ve hired professionals or enlisted friends and family to help.

Wipe It Down

As well as washing hands and wearing masks, everyone involved in the move should be wiping down commonly touched surfaces with disinfecting wipes and/or cleaner. Areas to wipe down can include boxes and furniture to be moved, door handles and house keys.

Pack Everything

Make sure your packing is organized and packed tightly. Remember to seal boxes with packing tape and label the boxes so you’re fully ready to move.

Be On Time

It’s always a good idea to be ahead of schedule, so make sure you’re fully packed and ready to move at least 24 hours in advance of your moving date. This makes the entire moving process go much more smoothly.
