THINKING OF SELLING? HERE’S HOW TO GET STARTED

Step by Step Guide for Selling your Home

1. CALL THE MILLER REAL ESTATE TEAM.

If you don’t already have a Realtor, you’ll want to find one with the experience and knowledge of selling homes in your area. The Miller Real Estate Team Realtors are familiar with your neighborhood and are going to have the enthusiasm and knowledge needed to provide answers and information to potential buyers.

2. DECLUTTER AND DE-PERSONALIZE THE HOME.

Put away any family photos or mementos that are prominent in your home. You want prospective buyers to see themselves in your home. Minimizing such items will allow them to visualize it as their home instead of yours.

3. CLEAN THE HOUSE.

A clean house is definitely worth the effort. Even if it needs updating, people can usually see past that as long as the home is clean. If it’s dirty, that’s what people will notice and they likely won’t want to return.

4. TIDY UP THE YARD.

Curb appeal is extremely important. That doesn’t mean you have to have a professionally designed garden. It just means your yard should be tidy, with the grass cut, weeds pulled out of the flower beds, toys put away. The general appearance should be of a neat and tidy property. Just like the inside of the home should be clean, so should the yard. If potential buyers drive up and see an untidy yard, they may just keep on driving.

5. SECURE YOUR VALUABLES.

Once the home is on the market, put away items you treasure or that are of value. Lock your jewelry box when you’re not home and secure important papers or documents in a locked filing or storage cabinet. While Realtors do their best to ensure the security of your home, you don’t want to leave anything to chance. It’s best to put away items that are important or valuable, either from a financial or sentimental standpoint.

If you’ve decided to sell your home, give the Miller Real Estate Team a call today at (250) 751-1223 and one of our expert Realtors will be happy to help.
